Can minors receive vaccinations in Maryland without parental consent?
Minors in Maryland currently cannot consent to vaccinations, unless they are (1) married; (2) the parent of a child; or (3) living separate and apart from the minor’s parent(s) or guardian and self supporting.
That said, according to Md. Code Ann., Health-Gen. II §20-102(c)(1)-(5)] "A minor (i.e., a person under the age of 18) has the same capacity as an adult to consent to treatment for or advice about venereal disease", and "A minor has the same capacity as an adult to consent to medical treatment if, in the judgment of the attending physician, the life or health of the minor would be affected adversely by delaying treatment to obtain the consent of another individual."
Based on the above, you may be able to talk to a doctor about getting vaccines for HPV, Hepatitis-B, and Hepatitis-C. Call your county health department and let them know about your situation.
