Can minors receive vaccinations in Pennsylvania without parental consent?

Minors in Philadelphia ages 12 years and above can consent to the COVID-19 vaccine (vax.phila.gov).

Minors of any age in Pennsylvania who have graduated from high school, or married, or have been pregnant can consent to all vaccinations (Act of Feb. 13, 1970, P.L. 19, No. 10 Cl. 35)

If in the physician's judgment, an attempt to secure parental/guardian's consent would result in delay of treatment which would increase the risk to the minor's life or health, the minor can receive medical care without consent (Penn. Stat. §35-10104)

Call your county health department and let them know about your situation.

Note: Senator Amanda Cappelletti from Montgomery County is writing a bill to allow anyone 14 and older to make their own decision about vaccines after talking with their family doctor or pediatrician. We will update this page as we know more.

As always, we recommend our guide to convincing vaccine-hesitant parents, and sharing personal stories of teens getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
